The Tripura Medical College (TMC) and Dr Bram teaching hospital run by a government constituted society seem to be moving on an autopilot. The top-heavy administration is manned by malleable and retired bureaucrats who mint money from the college and hospital and fleece exorbitant salaries but they care nothing for the pay , facilities of teachers, non-teaching staff and stipends for students . But the latest instance of the management’s high-handed arbitrariness is reflected in the ‘entry bar’ order slapped on more than special duty nurses-all women who used to serve patients as special nurses at night or daytime. These hapless women would earn limited amounts from the relatives of patients and maintain their families.
