A battle over who should foot the bill for Ohio’s electricity-hungry data centers is heating up, with residential customers caught in the crossfire as their monthly bills continue to skyrocket, and Today in Ohio wonders why a trade association is working so hard harm ratepayers.

At the heart of the conflict is a rule approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) that would require massive data centers - those consuming 25 megawatts or more of power - to pay 85% of the cost of connecting to the state’s power grid.
