KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville City Council is considering setting aside more money to pay for upgraded traffic lights on Clinton Highway.
The proposal is on the docket for discussion Tuesday, Nov. 11. The resolution would allow the city to partner with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for new upgrades.
Right now, TDOT is resurfacing the highway between Schaad Road and the Anderson County line. After the start of that project, officials mentioned adding vehicle detection areas at three different areas.
Officials said that the agreement will not cost more than $37,700.
Earlier this year, Knoxville City Council approved a $30 million project to alleviate traffic in other highly-traveled areas by upgrading traffic signals. That marked the first project of its kind in the city.
