CINCINNATI (WXIX)- In a rare move, Hamilton County prosecutors have asked a judge to step down from a murder case “in the interest of justice and to avoid any appearance of partiality,” court records show.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Alan Triggs recently separated the state’s murder cases against two men, Corey Ringer, 34, of Pleasant Ridge, and Kameron Scott, 31, of Kennedy Heights, without being asked to by prosecutors or either man’s defense team.
Ringer and Scott, whose grandmother served as a Cincinnati police officer, were indicted together in 2022 and slated for trial together this fall in the 2021 shooting death of Ryan Casey, 27, of Kennedy Heights.
Casey was shot multiple times in what prosecutors say was a “targeted attack”
