Which Alabama county is home to the most veterans, and how many veterans live in your county? Here’s your answer.

Around 17.5 million veterans currently live in the United States, according to data from the Department of Veterans Affairs, and many of them call Alabama home.

While Alaska, Virginia and Wyoming are home to the most veterans per capita, our state has some living in virtually all of its 67 counties.

Stacker recently put together a list of the counties with the most veterans in Alabama using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, including the 2023 5-year estimate.

Coffee County took the top spot on the list, with veterans from the Korean War, Vietnam War, both Gulf Wars and World War II making up 16 percent of its population.
