More than 260 Quebec doctors have applied to work in Ontario in the wake of a controversial bill reforming doctors’ pay.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) received just 19 applications between June 1 and Oct. 22 this year, according to data sent to CBC News . However, since Oct. 23, 263 Quebec doctors applied to be licensed in Ontario with 35 being approved so far for certificates, the CPSO told the outlet.
Bill 2 was passed on Oct. 25 in Quebec — with a vote of 63 to 27 — after Premier Francois Legault called a special session to rush through the legislation, which imposes fines of up to $500,000 per day on doctors who take “concerted action” to challenge the government’s policies.
