A major UK airline will roll out free Wi-Fi for all passengers from next year allowing them to stream video, message friends and work on multiple devices.

British Airways has announced the news following an agreement with Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet provider and its parent company International Airlines Group (IAG).

The airline said the rollout will begin in 2026 and is part of its £7billion transformation programme. Once fully fitted, all customers - regardless of which cabin they’re in - will benefit from “reliable and lightning fast Wi-Fi connectivity.” It will be provided on both short-haul and long-haul services.

At the moment, British Airways offers a limited Wi-Fi service which ranges from a free text-based messaging service for loyalty club members
