RALEIGH, N.C. —
A nationwide recall of ByHeart Inc. Whole Nutrition Infant Formula has been initiated following reports of infant botulism across 12 states, including a suspected case in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said they are alerting providers, parents, and caregivers about the outbreak and recall.
As of Nov. 10, 15 infants have been reported with suspected or confirmed infant botulism due to exposure to the formula, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
On Tuesday, the NCDHHS said there is one suspected case currently under investigation in North Carolina.
