NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Health officials are warning parents and caregivers after an outbreak of infant botulism linked to ByHeart Inc. Whole Nutrition Infant Formula prompted a nationwide recall.
According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, as of Nov. 10, 15 infants in 12 states have been reported with suspected or confirmed infant botulism connected to the formula. North Carolina currently has one suspected case under investigation.
In response, ByHeart Inc. has voluntarily recalled all lots of its Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, while investigations into the outbreak continue.
