After sorting through appeals and other requests, the Georgia High School Association has finalized classifications for the upcoming 2026-28 reclassification cycle. Multiple Augusta-area teams had appealed to make a change to their classification, but not every request ultimately was granted.

Lakeside, who was initially slated to join the recently brought back Class 7A, the school will now join 6A along with Grovetown and Greenbrier. Similarly, Evans was supposed to be a member of 6A, but will now be a part of 5A. Alongside Evans will be Richmond Academy. ARC wanted to move down in classification to limit the travel that would be done in a classification with very few Augusta-area teams. However, that appeal was denied.
