ORONO -- As captains and coaches have stated for weeks now, the goal is to go 1-0 every week. And the Black Bears have done just that, winning their last six games including a dominant win over Hampton on Saturday.

Maine currently stands tall with a 5-1 conference record, and after Monmouth University dropped their game on Saturday, the door has opened for the Black Bears to tie for first place in the CAA standings this week with a win over Rhode Island, the conference’s top seed.

“Our players have earned that," said head coach Jordan Stevens. "Through the work that they’ve done, they’ve earned it. We have a great opportunity. We got to have a great week of practice so that we can meet that opportunity and make the most of it.”
