JACKSBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Campbell County High School staff member gave away unused cafeteria chairs when they weren’t supposed to last year, according to an investigative report from the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Office.

According to the report, it happened in the summer of 2024 after the high school had its cafeteria renovated. That renovation included replacing chairs and tables, and a school employee ended up gifting several chairs to a restaurant free of charge.

Campbell County Board of Education policy says any surplus property, like chairs that will go unused after a renovation, should be put up for sale.
