LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Stars and Lincoln first responders honored 7-year-old Isai Soriano with a special day at the Ice Box, ahead of their inaugural Hometown Heroes Hockey Game.
While all four kids in the Soriano family are taking up ice hockey, Isai is doing so while having Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). It is a progressive and life-limiting condition that affects about one in every 3,600 male infants, weakening muscles needed for movement, breathing, and heart function.
While there is no cure, first responders went out of their way to honor the 7-year-old with a special day on the ice.
First responders brought out a state patrol car, and made Isai a custom jersey, dubbing him as captain of the Lincoln Stars.
