Detroit — From a church basement to a brick-and-mortar shop in the heart of downtown Detroit, a custom leather shoe store owned and operated by its workers opened Tuesday.
Pingree Detroit, a maker of shoes, bags and accessories crafted from upcycled automotive materials, opened its first store in the District Detroit, at 22 W. Columbia St., on Veterans Day with the intention of paying homage to some of its co-owners who have served in the military.
