This is the youngest roster Central Valley coach Mark Lyons can remember in the last 15 years.
Of the listed 54-player roster, there are just 11 seniors. Just like last year, the Warriors started the season 0-3 with losses against tough non-conference competition including Montour, Thomas Jefferson and Belle Vernon. And just like last year, they wound up going 5-1 in a competitive Class 3A Western Hills Conference and earning a top-three seed for the WPIAL postseason.
“We don’t want to be in that position. That’s not what we strive for,” Lyons said of the 0-3 start. “But being that we went through it last year, I think our guys understand it better. They understand the importance of just washing it and moving on.”
