Kennedy Elementary School Principal Stephanie Becker says kindergarten teacher Nicole Demars embodies what it means to care deeply about students — both in and out of the classroom.
That commitment recently earned Demars the honor of being named Kennedy Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year.
“She has always been very, very patient and loving with her students to make sure that their needs are met, not just during the school day, but even outside of the school day,” Becker said.
“She’s a teacher who will call me or text me over the weekend to say, ‘Hey, how do you think the student’s doing?’ It’s just always in that teacher mode, caring about her students.”
Becker said Demars’ expectations are as high as her compassion.
