A Melbourne homeowner has woken up to “a scene from a horror movie”, peeling back his blinds in the early hours of the morning to find a car fire raging on his street.
An unknown criminal torched a Lexus Sedan on a quiet residential street in Elsternwick about 3.30am on Wednesday morning.
Nearby CCTV footage showed the thug trying the door handles on cars along the road.
Young father Gideon told SkyNews.com.au he and his wife pulled back the curtain a short while later to see their neighbour’s car engulfed in flames.
“It seemed like a scene out of a horror movie, there was just a huge blaze, I didn’t know if there were people still out there attacking someone, I didn’t know if they’d robbed my house,” he said.
“My wife was terrified, I was thinking about the kids upstairs sleeping.”
