Waymo’s fleet of driverless cars are gearing up for the highway.  Beginning Wednesday, Waymo expanded its ride hailing service to include routes along the interstate in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. 

The expansion means select passengers are now able to travel throughout a 260 square mile region of the Bay Area that stretches from San Francisco to San Jose. The newly expanded service region runs right through California’s famed Silicon Valley, which includes Mountain View, Palo Alto, and Sunnyvale.  The roll out, according to Waymo, will be gradual and will give preference to those riders who have previously opted into testing new service features via the Waymo app.  Waymo didn’t comment on how many riders are now eligible to cruise through the new service area or
