On Wednesday, Krispy Kreme opened its doors in Fridley, and boy, were a lot of people ready for it.
It's the first Krispy Kreme location to open in the state since 2008, when the company's last Minnesota location closed.
Its return was enthusiastically welcomed by locals, some of whom lined up the day before to be among the first to snag a glazed donut.
A Krispy Kreme representative says people began to line up outside as early as noon on Tuesday, and there was even a car in the drive-thru lane at 5 p.m. the evening before the opening.
It was an expected result. Ahead of the opening, the City of Fridley said it would have police dispatched to the opening to direct traffic.
