CENTRAL, La. (WAFB) - Firefighters in the city of Central are celebrating the opening of a new station.
Assistant Fire Chief Derek Glover said the facility is replacing their old building, which has been there since the 1980s.
The new building allows firefighters to get out of the station and onto Greenwell Springs Road faster during emergency calls. It also has extra space to house more staff during storms and to grow with the city.
“We hope to be good neighbors to the community now. Our new facility looks better, there’s room to grow, future use is we’ll house a ladder truck here at this location, which we didn’t have room for in the old one,” Glover said.
