BELMONT, N.C. – A 20-year-old is facing multiple charges after allegedly being involved in a street takeover and trying to hit a Belmont police officer over the weekend, according to the police department.

Around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to reports of a street takeover on Woodlawn Street.

Police said they used drones and saw several vehicles doing donuts and other reckless maneuvers that came close to injuring pedestrians.

As officers moved in, police said one vehicle tried hitting a Belmont officer, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit.

Police later located the vehicle stuck in traffic on I-85 and said the suspect, Lennon Osavaldo Dominguez Morgan, was trying to change the car’s registration plate.

Morgan was taken into custody. He is facing the following charges:
