[LOCATION] — The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is set to open for all eligible residents starting November 1. Owen Carter, Deputy Director of Program Operations, explained the program's purpose and eligibility requirements in a recent interview.
LIHEAP assists income-eligible individuals by providing benefits towards utility bills, particularly during the harsh winter months. Carter emphasized the importance of the program for seniors, disabled individuals, and families with children under six, especially those who might be disconnected from utilities before the state's moratorium period.
