LINCOLN — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is trying to repeat in a Big Ten Conference blood-drive competition that saves more lives than sports.

A year after nearly 4,000 donors gave blood in UNL’s name, which nearly doubled the next closest competitor, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wisconsin narrowly leads Nebraska in the 2025 version of the blood feud. Nebraska is behind Wisconsin by about 100 donors.

UNL won $1 million in the inaugural competition last year for student or community health. The school is seeking a similar prize this year.
