SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - November is Native American Heritage Month.

As the rich heritage and culture are celebrated, a new generation of leaders is collaborating and learning how to serve their communities best.

A leadership program is helping equip a man from the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe on his journey.

One life experience can be a stepping stone to the next part of the journey. Chris Whirlwind Soldier’s experience in the National Parks built a foundation.

“The rivers, trails, and conservation assistance, and in that role I served, you know, tribal nations across the Midwest region,” Chris said.
