ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The former police chief in Velda City admitted Wednesday to stealing thousands of dollars.

Daniel Paulino pleaded guilty to defrauding the government of at least $158,000. Prosecutors say he took money for his other businesses to pay for credit cards and travel.

He will be sentenced in February and is facing a maximum of 40 years in prison.
