JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Jasper County officials are issuing citations for burn ban violations and warning residents after multiple fire departments contained a wildfire that burned at least 56 acres on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire started around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, near County Road 826, according to Jasper County Precinct 6 Constable Chad Ainsworth.
Jasper County is one of three Southeast Texas counties still under a burn ban.
Several fire departments and the Texas Forest Service worked for hours Tuesday to extinguish the blaze.
Raegan Busby, a forester with the Texas A&M Forest Service, said her team initially responded with one dozer but quickly needed additional equipment.
