DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Governor Reynolds ordered flags to stay at half-staff statewide Thursday in honor of former Iowa State Senator and Board of Regents member Larry McKibben.
McKibben, a Marshalltown native, died at 78 years old from Alzheimer’s Disease Sunday. He served in the Iowa Senate from 1997 to 2010 and on the Board of Regents from 2013 to 2019.
“Larry McKibben was a kind and good man and was loved by all who knew him. I had the privilege of working briefly alongside Larry in the Iowa State Senate and later got to know him well while he served on the Board of Regents,” Governor Reynolds said. “Kevin and I offer our condolences and prayers to his family during this time. He will be deeply missed.”
