Today, all veterans go back to being broken down war horses with arthritis and bad eyesight! If we’re wearing a military hat, we might get a “Thank you for your service,” but that gesture is more to make those who never served feel good about themselves.

No matter what one did while serving, none of us were asked, “Where would you prefer to be, or what would you like to do?” We were all ordered to a place and to do a job! We did that job to the best of our abilities and with pride in doing so. We only had each other for gratitude, and that’s all we ever needed.

We continue to wear our military hats not for the heartless "thanks," but rather for our heartfelt pride, and if a fellow serviceman comes up and starts a conversation, even better! We know t
