TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The City of Tucson’s Planning Commission held a public hearing Wednesday night to get feedback on proposed regulations to allow multi-family housing development throughout the city.
Last year, the Arizona Legislature passed H.B. 2721, a bill requiring cities with more than 75,000 people to build middle housing within a mile of a city’s central business district. Now, Tucson is looking to extend that rule to other parts of the city.
The state requirement focuses on “middle housing” such as duplexes, triplexes, and townhouses. Tucson resident Kyle Snowden, an organizer with Tucson for Everyone, supports the city’s effort.
