The Ottawa Police Service has issued a warning to the public that Christopher Watts, deemed a high-risk offender since 2015, is now living in the Rideau-Vanier area.
“The OPS believes that Watts poses a risk to the community, particularly women, including those under 18 years of age,” police said in a news release Wednesday.
In 2003, Watts was sentenced to 17 years in a federal penitentiary for the sexual assault, sexual interference and manslaughter of a 13-year-old Kitchener girl in 2001. He was released on conditions after 12 years in custody.

After being released, he “soon reoffended and has been hopping from halfway house to halfway house ever since,” the Kingston Whig-Standard reported in June 2022.
