Two Woodstock town board members blasted a proposal to pay and classify the first deputy clerk the same as the town clerk, calling it sloppy and an overreach. But supervisor Bill McKenna fired back, claiming the pushback is political payback for his decision to rehire a convicted sex offender in the maintenance department.
McKenna had proposed a lengthy resolution codifying the responsibilities of Meghann Reimondo, who was appointed by former clerk Jackie Earley. It also calls for Reimondo’s pay to be the same as Earley’s—around $75,000. Council member Bennet Ratcliff proposed a much shorter resolution, arguing the duties of the first deputy clerk are already stipulated by New York state municipal law and that it is unnecessary and perhaps illegal to have a separate resolution.
