EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - While Tri-State SNAP recipients are missing crucial assistance due to the shutdown, the Tri-State Food Bank is doing emergency food distributions this week.
Today’s giveaway was at the Memorial Lofts housing complex near Lincoln Avenue and Bayard Park.
Non-perishable food items, along with essentials like eggs, bread, milk and fresh produce were available.
Officials say these emergency giveaways are meant to prioritize the families most at-risk during the SNAP benefit pause.
There will be another giveaway tomorrow at Tulip Tree Health Care on Main Street in Princeton starting at 10.
