SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A Flock camera on 28th Street and Olympic Avenue unexpectedly activated and detected a stolen vehicle on Nov. 8 at 11:41 a.m.
This incident occurred after a Flock technician mistakenly turned the camera back on, unaware it had been intentionally deactivated. The technician had received an alert about a camera outage and was dispatched to fix it.
Springfield Police Deputy Chief George Crolly explained that the alert system automatically notified the technician of the outage, prompting the visit to the camera.
"Our dispatcher received an alert of a stolen vehicle just passed away the intersection and that's how we learned that camera was active," said Crolly.
