BOZEMAN – The C.M. Russell High volleyball team picked up an opening-round victory but fell to Bozeman Gallatin in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the state tournament at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The Raptors (26-1), the defending state champs and top seed from the Eastern AA, took the second-round match 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 and move to the undefeated semifinal on Thursday against Bozeman High at 6 p.m. Stats were not immediately available late Wednesday night.

The Rustlers (22-6) face off with Billings Senior (20-7) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to Friday morning for a chance to enter the trophy rounds. CMR swept the Broncs in both regular-season meetings this year.
