EUGENE — Off to a dreadful start shooting from the perimeter this season, Oregon broke through from three by attempting its most three-pointers ever.
The Ducks entered Wednesday night 351st nationally in three-point shooting (20.5%), having made just 9 of 44 from three in its first two games. They made 15 of 40 three-pointers against South Dakota State, topping the program record of 39 attempts from a pair of games in the 2017-18 season, with seven players knocking down shots from long range.
Jackson Shelstad had 22 points and eight assists, Takai Simpkins scored 20 points and Nate Bittle had 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 83-69 Oregon win in front of 5,019 at Matthew Knight Arena.
