NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Now that the government shutdown is over , more than 40 million Americans should start receiving their SNAP benefits again.
But it will take time to get back to normal.
The staff at Family Promise of Hamilton County said they're here to help. They work with hundreds of people every year who are struggling with low income or homelessness, helping them find affordable housing, job training, and parenting classes. They see the need up close.
"A lot of people think that that's not really an issue here, but it very much is. People might not be sleeping on, you know, in the streets and things like that, but they're sleeping in their cars, hotels. They're doubled up with families," Family Promise Executive Director Alicia Klingerman said.
