Watertown residents who wish to discharge their sump pumps into the sanitary sewer this fall or winter must apply for a seasonal sump pump variance.
The variance period runs through March 15 and must be renewed annually. The cost is $125, which includes a $25 application fee, according to an announcement issued by the Watertown Public Works Department.
Applications can be submitted online at watertownsd.us/variance or by calling 605-882-6244.
An inspection is required for new applicants. Also, if the city doesn't have an inspection record for a resident's sump pump, an inspection is required before approval. Once approved, residents will receive a bill for the $125 fee from the Finance Office, which is due within 30 days.
