PALERMO, Calif. - A new project in Palermo aims to tackle flooding and improve groundwater recharge.
The effort is a collaboration between Butte County and the Wyandotte Creek Groundwater Sustainability Agency.
The Palermo Drainage Cleanup Pilot Project has kicked off with the goal of clearing 1.7 miles of drainage ditches in the Palermo area in preparation for the upcoming wet season.
Action News Now reached out to the Wyandotte Creek Groundwater Sustainability Agency for comment but has not received a response.
Some Palermo residents that Action News Now spoke with are skeptical about the project's potential impact.
"It's just terrible we can't get anybody to take care of the ditches. I've been flooded out twice, they'll get the main ditches cleaned out which will help out a lot. B
