A fire tore its way through a barn in Attleboro, Massachusetts, on Wednesday afternoon, trapping multiple horses inside.

The Attleboro Fire Department say it responded to 40 Cumberland Street around 3:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire and arrived to find a large barn engulfed in flames.

Access to the property was slowed by its narrow roadway, the fire department said, but crews moved quickly to knock down the fire, while searching for several horses that were trapped inside.

Multiple animals were rescued before fire conditions deteriorated, the fire department said, but one horse did die in the fire. No residents or firefighters were injured.
