FITCHBURG, Wis. (WKOW) — A multi-year reconstruction project on Syene Road in Fitchburg has recently been completed, marking significant safety updates to the area.
Local residents can now expect improved conditions for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
"This is an area that has seen a number of serious crashes," said City of Fitchburg Alder Logan Reigstad. He highlighted the longstanding concerns of the community over the years.
Reigstad said the area used to be more rural, but this construction reflects the growth and development of this part of town.
Key improvements include the installation of three rectangular rapid flashing beacons, or RFBS, which help increase visibility for drivers when pedestrians or bicyclists are crossing.
