The federal government has amped up its Halloween terrorism investigation, formally charging three Dearborn men in a federal indictment that alleges they stockpiled weapons to use in a terror attack, and conspired to help the Islamic State terrorist group by committing themselves to the overseas organization.
A federal grand jury handed up the two-count indictment on Thursday, Nov. 13, nearly two weeks after the FBI raided two Dearborn homes and an Inkster storage facility, thwarting what they allege was a plan to carry out a terrorist attack over Halloween weekend. Two potential targets included bars and clubs in Ferndale frequented by the LGBTQ+ community and the Cedar Point amusement park, according to court records.
