A pub will close next year in a Cambridgeshire suburb, but it will be replaced with a new restaurant. Mulberry Tree Farm in Hampton, Peterborough has served the community for over 10 years.

However, it is set to close in March 2026 and a Hickory’s Smokehouse will open in its place in spring 2026. This will be the first of its kind in Cambridgeshire and it will create around 100 new jobs.

Hickory’s managing director John Welsh said the restaurant is “so excited” to open in Peterborough. He added: “It’s an area that’s been on our wishlist for a while now, and we’re over the moon to finally be planning our first smokehouse in the town and our first in the wonderful county of Cambridgeshire.
