The annual “Coats for the Cold” coat drive is underway in Oakland County, with approximately 100 drop-off sites for donating new or gently-used winter coats and jackets.
This is the 38th year for the month-long program, run by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in hopes of collecting thousands of coats and jackets to distribute free to people in need.
The donated outwear will go to multiple agencies, including Oakland Schools Student Homeless Population, which is seeking approximately 750 coats and jackets, the sheriff’s office said. Other agencies included Grace Centers of Hope, Baldwin Center, Ladies of Charity of St. Hugo of the Hills, Oakland Family Services Children’s Learning Centers, Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency, and more.
