INMAN, S.C. —

The Inman Police Department is addressing a social media rumor about women being stabbed with a needle.

WYFF News 4 was sent a post that said "Why is the news not reporting the person randomly going up to people and stabbing them with a needle in Inman, SC???"

Another post we saw said the man had stabbed six people.

Police said they became aware of posts that said somewhere in Inman a man approached a young woman, asked her a question and then tried to stab her.

The police department said there have been no 911 calls about this and no one has come to the department to file a report.
