Paul Skenes is showing a lot more emotion these days.
Skenes, 23-year-old ace of the Pittsburgh Pirates, unanimously won the National League Cy Young award for 2025. Skenes on Wednesday night was announced as the winner of the balloting conducted by the Baseball Writers Association of America.
He won the prestigious award over his fellow NL award finalists, Cristopher Sánchez of the Phillies and Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers. In doing so, he became the first unanimous winner since Sandy Alcantara in 2022 and just the fifth in the past 20 years.
This glorious moment occurred while Paul Skenes was seated on a couch with family, friends, and his girlfriend, Olivia Dunne.
