KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Three more protests have been filed over last week’s Kinston municipal elections, including two that involve the mayor-elect.
One of those is an amended protest filed by the Lenoir County GOP chair over city council candidate Les Lipford’s residency.
Sean Keenan claims that Lipford either lives outside the city or that he falsified loan documents. Yesterday, the county elections board dismissed Keenan’s initial protest, saying there was not enough information to move forward with a hearing.
Two new protests were filed this morning challenging the residency of Mayor-elect Kareem Moore.
One says Moore registered to vote on November 1st, which was four days before the election and months after the filing period ended. Another claims there are questions about Moore’s
