DES MOINES, Iowa —

Communities in central Iowa are taking steps to prepare children for a future shaped by artificial intelligence, including parents like Ida Nady, who wants her family's experience to serve as a cautionary tale.

A year after her teenage daughter fell victim to an AI attack, Nady said, "I thought I did everything right." She explained that a boy used Snapchat photos of girls, including her daughter, and altered them using an app to make them appear naked.

Nevada police determined the photo had been altered, but due to the laws at the time, the incident did not meet the threshold for harassment or child sexual abuse images, and the case was closed.
