PHOENIX — Phoenix firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a wastewater treatment facility on Thursday.
At about 10 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to a treatment facility near 91st Avenue and Baseline Road. Sky12 footage captured smoke emanating from the property.
The Phoenix Fire Department said the smoke was coming from a tunnel located about 10 feet underground. A contractor has been taken to the hospital for minor burn injuries and should be discharged later today.
The plant has been evacuated as crews continue to work to contain the fire. Wastewater services remain in operation.
