A Toronto woman who left her baby boy unattended in the bathtub where he drowned — after being cautioned repeatedly by the children’s aid society about leaving him alone — should be sent to prison for four years, the Crown told a judge on Thursday.

Tajah Henry placed her 15-month-old son, Mashiach, in the bathtub on Nov. 5, 2022, with no mat or other type of support. Leaving the bathroom door slightly ajar, she then put her headphones on, with the volume on low, and started to clean her apartment. When she checked on her son five or 10 minutes later, she found him on his back in the water.

“My son drowned. My son is turning blue,” Henry told the 911 dispatcher. “He’s not breathing.”
