The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 10:46 a.m. on Thursday to advise drivers to be alert for snow showers until 1 p.m. in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties.

“Locally heavy snow showers are moving across the region this morning. Visibility may briefly reduce to one quarter mile. Motorists should use caution until the snow showers pass,” the weather service said.
